A reorientation to east-up was made necessary by the morning illumination of this late September view, combined with an elevation underlayer. It is a dry time of year on a dry island, and the land looks like a crumpled piece of colored paper. The Etna cone dominates the east coast, with underused plateau areas to the south. The west half of the island has frequent towns and quite intense land management. Most roads and villages are visible at print scale.
