This view of the most populous quarter of the continent is dominated by the Murray-Darling river basin, and the Great Dividing Range near the coast. All major cities except Perth are within the area. Highlights of topography include the salt ponds of the Simpson Desert at lower right, the Flinders Range at right, the Grampians (similar but smaller abrupt ridges closer to Melbourne), everything about Tasmania, and at lower left the paired sand island groups nearby to Brisbane. A squared-off version is also available.
