The earth’s longest mountain range spans nineteen feet in its optimal print size. It could be 50% larger or smaller. The colors deliberately emulate a few realities while stressing the key features: the Altiplano has been given white for its salt playas. Below this level there is a gray giving way to light green forest tones. Darker brown smudges a break in slope onto the wide eastern flatlands where the color of tans make sure that the subtle shadows of minor terrain features still read well. At great heights above the Altiplano the peaks have rose slopes rising into oxygen-deficit purples.
